Ingrid Tung is certified as a Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. She began her career as a mergers & acquisitions attorney at a leading Silicon Valley firm, advising on complex corporate transactions at the height of the dot-com era.
Ingrid now focuses her practice on sophisticated estate planning for individuals and families with an emphasis on matters involving special needs planning, charitable giving, high-net-worth estates, closely held businesses, and international issues, as well as trust administration. She views estate planning not only as a matter of law, but also as an opportunity to help families articulate their values and create legacies of lasting meaning – a process that not only safeguards the future but also brings clarity and purpose to how we live today.
Ingrid is recognized by clients for her ability to simplify complexity. Her clients appreciate her thoroughness, clarity, and warmth, describing her as both “an expert in her field” and “personable and patient.” Whether drafting for advanced planning strategies, creating special needs trusts to protect beneficiaries with disabilities, or navigating cross-border estate issues, Ingrid combines technical expertise with an approach that ensures her clients feel heard, respected, and supported.
In addition to her legal practice, Ingrid serves as Chair-Elect of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, a nonprofit spanning North, Central, and South America, dedicated to creating a better world, one learner at a time, through music education. She is inspired by the way the Suzuki method uses music education to cultivate character and resilience, foster community, and inspire joy and excellence in learning. Through her service with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and before that, the Folsom Music Boosters and the Sacramento Youth Symphony, she affirms her conviction that both law and music education are grounded in careful listening, steady discipline, and leadership infused with compassion and creativity.
Ingrid earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School with a Specialization in International Affairs and her B.A. from Wellesley College, where she studied Political Science and Music. She has also contributed to the Trusts & Estates Quarterly on legislative updates in elder law.
