John L. Boze
J.D. Esq.
John L. Boze is Of Counsel to The Burton Law Firm, where he practices in the areas of business law, real property law, and construction law. He brings three decades of legal experience and a practical, business-oriented approach to advising clients across the real estate and construction industries.
Mr. Boze previously served as in-house counsel, advising one of the largest framing contractors in Northern California, a regional production home builder, and a lumber supplier and truss manufacturer. His practice is informed by a deep understanding of the operational and legal challenges faced by businesses in these industries, enabling him to provide pragmatic solutions that support successful ventures in both favorable and challenging economic conditions.
In addition to his transactional and advisory work, Mr. Boze has played a key role in successful legislation limiting contractual indemnity and defense obligations, the mechanics lien statutory revisions in 2010, and serving on the committee which drafted the form interrogatories for construction disputes. These developments provided him a valuable insight into legislative and regulatory matters that impact his clients. His areas of focus include real estate development, construction contracts and disputes, mechanic’s liens and bond disputes, corporate formation, business issues and disputes, and legislative and regulatory affairs.
Mr. Boze received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Sacramento, in 1989 and earned his Juris Doctor from Lincoln University. He has been licensed to practice law in California for 28 years and practices in Sacramento, California.
